Extension Project to Enhance the education of orphans through access to solar energy
In order to reduce the existing gap of orphan problems in education, ZAREDO decided to extend the project that will focus more to reduce orphan’s challenges. Again, for the activity year 2022 by REZA plan to install 60 small solar systems for providing orphans lights for study in their homes at night. ZAREDO targets to create the conducive friendly environment for orphans and enable them to access their studies while staying at home in the night.
More details about the project: The project had the aim of installing 60 small solar systems in the 60 houses where orphans live in various villages in Zanzibar. The small solar system is capable of lighting 4 lights and 2 ports for charging the phones. The Pro-solar small solar kit was the product used for this project.


Project Outcomes
The project objectives for the 2022 extension small project have been archived with its goal of almost 100%. We are believing that orphans, met their educational needs by accessing solar lights during home reading.
REZA’s incorporation with MUZDALIFA and the Department of Energy Office has successfully installed small solar systems for 60 households during the project implementation period. This figure shows an increment of 7.3% of the success of the year 2022.
The existing needs since the started of the project 2021 were 816. The 2021 project was able to install 100 small solar systems, which is equal to 12.3%. The continuation of the implementation of this project for the year 2022 has been able to install 60 small solar systems which is equal to 7.3% and making the success of the project reach 19.6%.
